We’re relying on fans who, not knowing the meaning of the anonymously general name (“restaurant” in Japanese), have officially renamed this place the Paris Okonomiyaki Club. Nonchalantly seated in a line at the dark bar equipped with a teppan (a Japanese grill), various classics of Japanese comfort food sizzle away, including yaki-soba (noodles sautéed with pork, shrimp, cuttlefish or lotus root) and shoga yaki (pork with ginger, only at night). Then there’s also the house star, which of course is the specialty from Osaka: okonomiyaki made with egg, flour, fish stock, green cabbage, chives and ginger, topped with pork, shrimp or cuttlefish for lovers of the classics, or even cheese or natto (+€3). Flipped on the plancha, this cross between an omelet and a crepe has a crispy yet bouncy texture on both sides, and is topped with a light mayo and shavings of dried bonito. And to end the meal on a sweet note, there are sweet anko maki, a kind of light crepe filled with red bean paste. // T.V.X.

FEELING THIRSTY? There’s Kirin beer on tap (€6), the high ball (Suntory whiskey with sparkling water over ice, €7.50), and genmai tea (€5) to make your meal even more authentic.

PRICE: Appetizers €3-8, okonomiyaki €13.80-17.80, yaki soba €13.80-17.80, shoga yaki €17.80, dessert €5.
