Le Fooding Guide’s Best bar à délices of 2014
As the evening comes, cocktail-lovers gather around the solid wood hexagonal bar encircled with wooden barstools, to knock back a few drinks and try the latest exciting potions by the Quixotic team (Candelaria, Hero, Les Grands Verres – yup, they’re responsible for the lot of them)! The night we went, we paired the Eté à Figueras (Beefeater gin, manzanilla sherry, orange cordial and Ricard Plantes Fraîches) with: a delicious rib-eye steak tartare under a tide of sea beans and an anchovy mayonnaise; a spirited octopus and borlotti bean salad lacquered with chimichurri sauce; a plump buffalo mozzarella sprinkled with almonds, datterino tomatoes and crabmeat; before a joyful chocolate and praline lava cake with Isigny cream and white peach in syrup. // N.K.
FEELING THIRSTY? In addition to the excellent cocktails (€12-15), there’s a boatload of natural wines: a Jura red from the Domaine de la Pinte (€8 a glass), a Burgundy white from Jean-Marc Roulot (€73 a bottle), etc.
PRICE: Plates €8-16, desserts €8.
