Located right near Paris Expo, not only is Beurre Noisette a buzzing neo-bistro (dark wood, faux-retro stainless steel lamps, a communal table in the small room to the right), but it’s also the best place in the neighborhood! Come sit shoulder-to-shoulder with other friendly guests, from Loden coat-wearing families to congress members with their badges, and take advantage of the well-made plates by Thierry Blanqui (ex-Tour d’Argent and Pavillon Ledoyen). The day we went for lunch, we gobbled up the menu at the bar: a good red kuri squash velouté that was bang on; clever cod with coco de Paimpol beans with a bit of bite and a briny mussel broth; finishing off with a dessert straight out the 80s, a coffee cream with amaretto that ended up winning us over! At night, the menu reinforces is bistronomic positions: veal tartare, clams and eggplant caviar; browned veal sweetbreads with mushrooms; Challans duck with a chorizo condiment… // A.B.

FEELING THIRSTY? There’s a beautiful flight of bottles: an Haute-Vallée-de-l’Aude white from Le Clos Teisseire (€6 a glass), a Vouvray Pointe de Silex from the Domaine Complices de Loire (€36 a bottle) or a respectable Cairanne-rouge from the Domaine Richaud (€44).
