You don’t just wind up by chance at Cathy Godard’s restaurant – to begin with, there’s no sign out front! This former schoolteacher-turned-chef, who previously did a stint at En Pleine Nature in Quint-Fonsegrives, transformed the ground floor of her house into a restaurant for 16 guests. In the green-walled-space with a communal table, she welcomes people in, chats, cooks, serves and handles payment three days a week at lunchtime. The other day, the menu featured a delightful organic egg that spilled over onto pan-fried sweet tooth mushrooms paired with Isigny cream; delicate wild bass prepared three ways (pan-fried, as a gravlax, and as a carpaccio doused in a black sesame sauce vierge), served with pointy cabbage salad; before a good oven-roasted apple over a palet breton cookie and homemade salted caramel. // P.L.

FEELING THIRSTY? Gaillac vintages (a white from Nicolas Lebrun is included in the set menu price; a rosé from the Château Montels at €16 a bottle) and other wines from a little further away, like a Grés-de-Montpellier from the Domaine Saint Jean de l’Arbousier (€26.40).
