After lighting up the bourgeois 6th arrondissement with their restaurant Les Apothicaires, Tabata and Ludovic Mey are now blowing up Vieux Lyon! Surrounded by the neighborhood’s holy trinity (bouchons, macarons, tourist traps…), the two rogues invested in an illustrious building, La Tour Rose, and turned it into a labyrinthine food court where you can fill your tray with their friends’ cooking. Already tested from the 12 different eateries: street food classics – burgers from Butcher Brother, lobster rolls from Lobs, fish and chips from Lyon’s Gastropub; a plump Margherita from Ludo’s Pizza; a nice savory waffle from Substrat, topped with a thick layer of tangy mustard cream, trout gravlax and roe; cheeky Lyon specialties turned into finger food by La Meunière – giant quenelle fries with lobster mayo for dipping, comforting tablier de sapeur nuggets with tartar sauce; an excellent corn galette from the Bistrot du Potager, covered with roasted cauliflower, labneh, pickled onion and peanut hummus; not to mention the bosses’ small plates – impeccable smoked haddock over leeks in an anise vinaigrette, or plump arancini made with celery, walnut and tarragon. And for all those with a sweet tooth? Head East via a graceful black forest gateau that’s been reimagined by La Baraque à Sucre. // Adrien Simon

FEELING THIRSTY? There are natural wines at Bistrot du Potager’s stand: a Coteaux-du-Lyonnais from the Clusel-Roch (€4 a glass), a Côtes-du-Rhône red from Barret (€6), a Bourgogne-Aligoté from Pataille (€6)…

PRICE: Pizzas €9-20, snacks €8-17. Small plates €7-13, desserts €8.
