THE STORY: Nine years after opening the Hôtel Amour in Pigalle, Paris’s first faubourgeois hotel, the “love team” (André Saraiva, Thierry Costes and Emmanuel Delavenne) has struck again…. But this time around, it’s near the faubourg Saint Denis. Both a hotel and an artist residency, the Hôtel Grand Amour practices the art of sexy coolitude…. Quite well behaved in appearance, the 41 bedrooms (starting at €125 a night) and flashy hallways discourage you from spending your nights fast asleep: Pierre Frey carpeting with vaginal and phallic prints, risqué photographs on the walls, and lots of other arty details that will rub you the right way…

TOILETRIES: Hermès shower gel, shampoo, soap, and body lotion à l’eau d’orange verte.
INTERNET: Wifi (free).
BREAKFAST: Vegetarian (€12 – coffee or tea, fresh fruit juice, fruit salad, cakes, granola), French (€12 – coffee or tea, fresh fruit juice, toast, jam, pain au chocolat or croissant, ham and cheese), English (€15 coffee or tea, fruit juice (orange, lemon, grapefruit), toast, bacon or sausage, scrambled eggs).
LITTLE LUXURY: The 40 square meter apartment on the top floor, designed like a painter’s studio (€350 a night).
