Divine, John Waters’ transvestite muse, had been somewhat forgotten… But now she’s been reincarnated as a classy bar with disco balls, flecked light fixtures, rough stones, an 80s playlist, circle benches and carefully made drinks. Designed by Nicolas Munoz (Bisou), the menu has a dozen creations with evocative names: Soie (pisco, pineau, Greek yogurt, verjus, aquafaba and Peychaud’s bitters – €13); Fleur (mezcal, sake, rosé vermouth, Rinquinquin – €13); or even Essence (beetroot shrub, verjus, sparkling water, orange blossom – €7). As for the food, there’s a handful of snacks dreamt up by chef Lina Caschetto (fried chicken sandwiches, chicken wings, samosas, grilled cheese…), and brunches every Sunday, with pancakes, chicken waffles, faisselle cheese and granola, etc., plus Bloody Mary cocktails (€10) and Carrot Mimosas (carrot cordial, ginger, sparkling rosé – €9). // A.B.
