Hidden out at the back of the splendid Daroco, Danico is a small and charming spot for cocktails with a sense of humor, including a powerful Suze Moutarde served in a Maille jar. As for the space, Francesca Errico’s modern architecure goes well with the marbled herringbone bar, fresh-almond-colored velvet armchairs, brass wall lamps and the view of the Galerie Vivienne. It’s all bathed in an ‘80s funk feel and washed down with creations crafted by Nico de Soto (who used to work at the Experimental Cocktail Club and, now, at the Mace in New York): a tropical Kota Ternate (three types of rums, fresh pineapple juice, lemon, coconut water, black tea and spices for €14) or an herbier Pour toi Barman (rum, Cynar, red vermouth, chicha morada for €16). If you want something without alcohol, there’s a coconut water and beet juice that’s very popular (€9). And if you’re craving a snack, try the freshly baked foccacia from the restaurant (€6). // A.B.
